3D Microtissue or Spheroid Models

Cyprotex has extensive experience in developing screening techniques using 3D microtissue or spheroid models.

3D cellular models have the following advantages:

  • The 3D cellular models are amenable to long term repeat dose studies which are not possible using 2D systems.
  • 3D cellular models closely mimic native tissues and have the benefit of cell to cell interaction.
  • The 3D models are amenable to high content imaging as well as biochemical endpoints.

Cyprotex can offer scaffold-free multicellular organotypic 3D microtissue models including spheroids produced using Ultra-low adhesion (cardiac and liver models) and hanging drop (liver models) plates.

We currently offer:

  • High content screening services using 3D microtissues or spheroids with confocal imaging (available for Ultra-low adhesion plate model). Find out more.
  • ATP content service using 3D microtissues or spheroids (available for both Ultra-low adhesion plate model and hanging drop model). Find out more.
  • Structural cardiotoxicity model using 3D microtissues (available for Ultra-low adhesion plate model). Find out more.
  • 3D Hepatotoxicity model using HepaRG spheroids (available for Ultra-low adhesion plate model). Find out more.
  • Structural cardiotoxicity and hypertrophy model using 3D spheroids (available for Ultra-low adhesion plate model). Find out more.
  • 3D brain microtissue model with high content imaging (HCI) endpoints. Find out more.
